Carriers of gods and Kundalini

They are not really vaahans(pets). They represent the essence of sadhnas related to dieties.

So, there is a energy lying in our muladhar chakra(root of spinal cord) known as Kundalini( you might have already heard about it). It travels from the muladhar chakra to Sahastrara chakra(crown of our head). It can be awakened by many ways but mainly by yogic way or tantric way. It's speed of awakening(traveling from root to crown) varies according to your sadhna(practice). So, pets or vaahans represent the speed of travel of kundalini Whether you are doing it through a yogic or a tantric way.

Let's consider Nandi(the vaahan of shiv). He is a Shivgan as well as the vaahan of shiv. What it means is which ever shaiv sadhna(practices related to shiv) you do, your kundalini will travel with a steady speed(like the way a cow usually walks) as a cow is very calm and relaxed.

In case of Saakht sadhnas(practices related to maa bhagvati), as her vaahan is a lion your kundalini travels very quickly which results in effects many people can't bear.

In case of Ass(vaahan of maa kaali), since ass is a foolish animal, sadhnas of maa kaali gives quick results and seekers think their kundalini is rising but nothing happens at all because it fools seekers into believing that their kundalini is rising. It does not mean her sadhnas cannot bring fruition. it means you have to deal with a lot of illusions.

Same is the case with every vaahan. Since, cow is a calm and relaxed animal, it's the prime reason that many people choose Shaiv traditions because the journey is blissful and relaxing.

I am in no way saying other dietes sadhna are not good, it is just that sadhnas related to shiva are always relaxing and gives you a steady development in Spirituality.

same goes with shri Mahavishnu, your progress is very fast but it's a little unstable.

Om Namah Shivaya.

Namo Aadesh.
