Puja during periods

This restriction was never about periods but about blood which means not only women but men are also restricted to do sadhna during certain conditions. that is, you are not allowed to do puja or sadhna of every diety if you are not in very good conditons. That's why, we clean ourselves by taking shower and then wear clean clothes before doing puja.

So, when you look at it, the reason why women are restricted to chant mantra or do puja or sadhna during periods is very logical. Women are not restricted to do every sadhna or puja but some special ones.

This is the reason why women in period were not allowed in kitchen because in ancient times, people used to have dieties in their kitchen as well, mainly maa Annapurna. But, today we don't have any diety in our kitchens, so you don't need to restrict yourself.

As you know there are three types of dieties : Satvic , Rajsic and Tamasic.

In case of satvic dieties such as maa Saraswati or maa Brahmacharini etc., Women are not allowed to do puja, mantra jaap and sadhna during periods and not only women if I(male) am wounded and blood is coming out from any part of my body, I too am not allowed to do mantra jaap. This is the whole thing.

But, what is the case with Rajsic dietes such as shri Vishnu, maa lakshmi, shri Ram or krishna etc. You can chant mantra and do anything in your periods, even I can do my sadhna even after being wounded. There is no restriction as such in Rajsic dieties.

Now, you must have guessed what would be the case with Tamsic dieties. They are tamsic themselves so there is no such restriction in their case also. Suppose, you are chanting mantra of maa kaali or maa taara or some taamsic forms of shiv or any other tamsic dieties, you need not to worry about your periods.

So, now you have guessed why women are restricted to enter shabrimala?.

Comment down your doubts if any.
